ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Led by Mary Moskal (Cherry Valley, Ill./Rockford Boylan)'s game-high 20 points, a total of four Flyers hit double digits in points as Lewis defeated Missouri-St. Louis 78-67 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play Thursday night at Neil Carey Arena.

With the win the Flyers improve to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC and remain in first place in the GLVC's East Division.

Lewis grabbed a 5-2 lead at the 17:23 mark of the first half and never trailed again. The Flyers led 27-10 with 9:03 to play in the first half, but saw that 17-point cushion dwindle to nine by the break.

The Flyers came out strong in the second half, pushing their lead up to 19 by the 11:37 mark, but the Riverwomen scored 19 of the game's next 26 points to pull within seven with 1:53 to play. That's as close as Missouri-St. Louis would get, as the Flyers made 6-of-9 free throws and a lay-up down the stretch to close out the 11-point win.

Courtney Watts, Taylor Gagliano and Jessica Wendeln led the Riverwomen in scoring with 12 points each.

The Flyers were 21-of-29 at the line overall while Missouri-St. Louis went 23-of-34. The Flyers held the edge in rebounding, 37-31, and they made 4-of-11 from downtown while holding the Riverwomen to 1-of-4 from 3-point range.

The Flyers have one day to rest before hosting GLVC Missouri-Rolla on Saturday.
