Box Score

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Chris Thompson scored the second of his two goals 3:30 into overtime to push Northern Kentucky past Lewis 2-1 Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer game.

NKU won for a fifth consecutive time to improve to 9-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the GLVC, while 15th-ranked Lewis slipped to 9-3 overall and 7-3 in league play with its first home loss of the season.

Thompson gave the Norse an early lead with his third goal of the season, assisted by Chad Cook, at 5:24. The Flyers tied it at 33:53 when Anthony Marsico, assisted by Justin Vander Heyden, netted his fifth goal of the year.

Although the loss dropped Lewis from first to fourth place in the GLVC, the Flyers still are very much alive in the race to finish atop the standings and host the GLVC Championship tournament semifinals and final. Wisconsin-Parkside is in first at 7-2-1, with NKU and Southern Illinois Edwardsville tied for second at 6-2-1.

Lewis hits the road Thursday to take on archrival Wisconsin-Parkside. That game is the first of three consecutive GLVC road contests that will conclude the Flyers' regular-season conference slate.
