Charisse Steckling and Stephanie Sagat combined to hit .417 with 42 kills as the Lewis Flyers won their ninth straight match, 25-30, 30-18, 30-23, 27-30, 15-8 over conference foe Southern Indiana Friday night.
The Flyers improved to 17-4 (11-1), setting up a first-place showdown at No. 17 Southern Illinois Edwardsville Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Steckling hit .386 with 21 kills and Sagat hit .425 with 20 kills and nine digs. Steckling also registered six block assists. For the second straight match, Sara deBuhr registered a career high in kills. She had 16 along with three block assists.
Andrea Morrone recorded 62 assists, setting a career high for the second time in a week. Theresa Nugent added 13 kills and 12 digs, while Lauren Hatter had a match-leading 22 digs. Sarah McKinney contributed 15 digs with eight kills.
Chelsea Doubler led Southern Indiana with a match-high 22 kills. Emily Ryan added 13 kills, and Amanda Probst made 17 digs.
Southern Indiana out-blocked the Flyers 15-9, but Lewis held a .220 to .153 advantage in hitting.
Lewis' nine-match win streak is the longest since the 2002 Flyers won 17 in a row.
