Flyers Snap Skid With Win Over Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - Drew Pickering registered a Flyers' season high of 28 kills as Lewis took down Carthage 3-1 (30-28, 23-30, 30-25, 30-28), Wednesday night at Carthage's Physical Education Center.

With the win, the Flyers improved to 6-11 and snapped a six match losing streak.

Pickering, who hit a team-best .460, tallied the most kills in match since Jeff Soler nailed 28 in a five-game tilt against Ball State on May 1, 2004. Pickering also notched five digs and a service ace while assisting on five blocks.

Mykolai Zerebeckyj added 10 kills, an ace and five digs, while Billy Sahagian and Alex Vigansky each knocked down seven kills. Sahagian hit .417 with two digs, and Vigansky hit .364 with one solo and eight assisted blocks. Jordan Vidovic led the Flyers with 28 assists and six digs.

The Flyers out-hit the Red Men .246 to .183 for the match, including .355 to .167 in the third game. Lewis also held an 11-9 edge in team blocks.

Shane Olson led the attack for Carthage with 14 kills. Rob Koehler added nine kills, while T.J. Bellei and Allen Russo each posted seven. Ryan Baumgartner had a match-high eight digs.

The Flyers return to action on Friday night when they host Clarke at 7 pm.
