Ashland Hands Flyers First Loss

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Despite a career-high 18 digs from Theresa Nugent, the Lewis Flyers fell to regional foe Ashland 3-0 (30-25, 30-23, 30-18) Saturday morning at the West Florida Comfort Inn-vitational.

Nugent also added a team-best eight digs and had two services aces and a solo block. Sarah McKinney reached double digits in digs (12) for the second time in three matches and added five kills. Charisse Steckling also had five kills for the Flyers.

Ashland was paced by the double-double effort of Mary Kate Glowe, who posted a match-high 11 kills with 15 digs, three blocks and two service aces. Lynsey Warren (13), Carolina Gonclaves (11) and Emma Guinsler (11) also contributed with double-digit dig totals.

Ashland held a .200 to .035 advantage in hitting and an 11-4 edge in blocks.

The Flyers look to get back on track Saturday afternoon when they face West Georgia at 3:45 p.m. in Lewis' final match of the tournament.
