ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Charisse Steckling and Stephanie Sagat each combined to total 26 kills as the Flyers defeated St. Mary's 3-0 (30-17, 30-25, 30-23) and West Florida 3-1 (27-30, 30-22, 30-19, 30-25), Friday at the Flyer Festival.

Sagat led all players with 13 kills in the match against St. Mary's. She followed up that performance with 13 more kills and 16 digs against West Florida.

Steckling produced eight kills in the Flyers' first match and totaled a match-best 18 kills while hitting .484 in the win over West Florida.

After dropping the first game in the match against West Florida, the Flyers rallied to take the next two. The fourth game was tied 14-14 before the Flyers put together a 6-1 run to take control for good.

Besides Steckling and Sagat, two other Flyers reached double digits in kills against West Florida. Sarah McKinney notched 16 kills with 16 digs, while Sara deBuhr totaled 12 kills. Lauren Hatter had a match-best 20 digs, and Theresa Nugent added 18 digs of her own.

The Flyers out-hit West Florida .221 to .157 and held a 9-7 lead in blocks.

In the match against St. Mary's, the Flyers hit .222 including a .520 to .111 edge in the first game. Lewis also had five service aces compared to just one by St. Mary's, and the Flyers collected 29 digs to St. Mary's 19.

The Flyers return to action on Saturday with two more matches. Lewis plays Davis and Elkins at 11:00 a.m. and Shepherd at 1:00 p.m. The Flyers' matches are two of six scheduled in the final day of the Flyer Festival.
