Flyers Dominate Rutgers-Newark

NEWARK, N.J. - Three Flyers reached double-digit kill totals as Lewis overpowered Rutgers-Newark 30-24, 30-28, 30-22, Friday night in a non-conference match.

The Flyers (2-0) hit a robust .441 for the match, registering 58 kills with only 13 errors. Rutgers-Newark fell to 0-1.

Jared Dayton led Lewis with 18 kills, hitting .467, and he collected five digs, two aces and two assisted blocks. Drew Pickering totaled 12 kills with a .455 hitting performance, and he posted one ace and one assisted block.

David Kelnhofer was the third Flyer to reach double figures in kills, registering 10 on 11 attempts with no errors for a .909 hitting percentage.

Billy Sahagian added seven kills with a .600 hitting effort, and he had a match-high six assisted blocks. Nick Perakes led all players with 11 digs.

Eric Honsberger led rutgers-Newark with a match-high 19 kills. He also led the team with 10 digs.

The Flyers out blocked Rutgers-Newark 10-5 and limited the Scarlet Raiders to a .297 attack percentage.

Lewis returns to action on Wednesday, hosting St. Ambrose in the Flyers' home opener at 7 pm.
