SOMERS, Wis. -
LaVontay Fenderson and Kyle Clark combined for 55 points Saturday to lead Wisconsin-Parkside to an 84-62 Great Lakes Valley Conference men's basketball victory over Lewis.
Wisconsin-Parkside (13-5, 4-3 GLVC) shot 55 percent from the floor, and Fenderson and Clark were the primary components of that effort. Fenderson was 10-of-15 overall and 3-of-5 from 3-point range, while Clark's 11-of-17 mark included a 5-of-9 performance from beyond the arc. Fenderson also was 5-of-5 at the foul line.
Brad Ferstenou added 12 points, three steals and a game-high eight rebounds for the Rangers, who earned a 35-28 advantage on the glass. Tyrone Deacon chipped in six assists and three steals.
Brandon Dagans led the Flyers (8-7, 3-4 GLVC) with 20 points - his sixth consecutive output of 20 or more - and seven rebounds. Jason Genova had 14 points and five rebounds, and Matthew Marino tallied season highs of 12 points and eight assists.
Wisconsin-Parkside sprinted to a 14-2 lead and owned a 38-20 cushion with 3:44 left in the first half. Lewis fought back, however, assembling an 11-2 run that narrowed the gap to 40-31 at the break.
After Parkside scored two quick second-half buckets, the Flyers embarked on a 12-4 surge and trailed just 48-43 at the 15:36 mark. But a 10-2 run, including eight points from Clark, pushed the Rangers' lead to 58-45, and the hosts maintained control down the stretch.
The Flyers travel to Missouri-St. Louis next Thursday.
