SIOUX CITY, Iowa - In what was another dominating performance by the Lewis University swimming team, Flyer swimmers combined to win 19 of 22 events, set 10 pool records and one school record in a convincing 249-117.5 dual-meet victory over Morningside College on Saturday at the Hindman-Hobbs Center.

On the men's side, five swimmers combined for seven pool records and one school mark as the men placed first in 10 of 11 events.

Senior Michael Lapustin and junior Adam Brown each scored two pool records, Lapustin setting a Lewis record in the process. Lapustin placed first in the 100 butterfly with a pool-record time of 53.38, and he took first in the 100 breaststroke with a pool and school record of 1:00.55.

Brown took first and set a pool record in the 400 IM, swimming the race in 4:19.57 and finishing just ahead of senior Steve O'Leary, who also swam under the pool record time. Brown scored his second pool record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:53.66.

And in a perfect illustration of the depth in the Lewis program, freshmen swimmers were responsible for five more first-place finishes and three other pool-record swims.

Jason Ament, a freshman from Lincoln Way East, broke his second pool record in as many weeks, bettering the 1000 freestyle mark with a time of 10:06.22. He also took first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.31. Freshman Adam Olszeski swam 1:50.53 and broke the record in the 200 freestyle, and freshman Ryan Harrison won the 100 backstroke with a pool record of 55.04. Jared Zimmer secured the freshmen's fifth first-place finish of the afternoon by swimming a 50.65 in the 100 freestyle.

The men's 200 medley relay team of Harrison, freshman Aidan Murphy, sophomore Brian Zankowski and Lapustin swam to first with a time of 1:45.49.

The Lewis women finished first in nine of 11 events and set four pool records along the way. Senior Michelle Sliva was fastest in the 100 butterfly, finishing with a pool-record time of 1:01.62. Junior Stephanie White-Olson continued her season-long dominance in breaststroke events, finishing first in the 100 with a pool-record time of 1:06.49. White-Olson also placed first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.93.

The women's two other pool records came in relay events. The 200 medley relay consisting of senior Leigh Dodd, White-Olson, Sliva, and freshman Nicole Marano swam a pool-record time of 1:55.68, to win the first event of the meet. The 200 freestyle relay consisting of Dodd, senior Tristine Schmidt, Sliva, and freshman Bridget Bettenhausen finished the event in a record time of 1:47.38.

Other first-place finishers for the women were freshman Nicole Marano in the 100 and 200 freestyle (57.15/2:05.16), Bettenhausen in the 400 IM (5:01.76) and Dodd in the 500 freestyle (5:30.78).

The Lewis men finished the dual meet portion of their season undefeated, while the women carry a six-meet winning streak into the season finale at home with Hillsdale on Saturday. Slated as Senior Day, Lewis will recognize eight seniors during the meet on Saturday.
