Senior Andrea Morrone was one kill away from a triple-double in the Flyers' sweep over conference foe Southern Indiana (30-26, 30-19, 30-24) on Friday evening.
Morrone finished the evening with 40 assists, 14 digs and nine kills. She had ten opportunities to register her tenth kill after recording her ninth kill on Lewis' 20th point in game three. Instead of going all out to complete the triple-double, Morrone recorded assists on nine of the Flyers' final ten points of the match.
In addition to Morrone, three other Flyers recorded double-digit digs. Freshman Lauren Seliga recorded 12, junior Lauren Hatter had 11 and freshman Ashlee Lindish notched ten.
Sophomore Stephanie Sagat tallied a match-high 14 kills. Sophomore Kim Richards recorded 11 kills.
The Flyers out-hit the Screaming Eagles .266 to .119.
Lewis dominated from the start, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first game. In the second game the Flyers held a commanding .333 to .070 hitting percentage advantage and cruised to the 11-point win. The Flyers clinched the match with a .255 to .147 hitting percentage edge in game three.
Southern Indiana held an 8-6 edge in blocks. Molly Rohman registered a team-high nine kills for Southern Indiana.
The Flyers improved to 16-2 (8-1 GLVC) while Southern Indiana fell to 9-9 (4-6 GLVC).
Lewis will play at No. 18 Southern Illinois Edwardsville tomorrow at 3 p.m.
