Senior Stephan Bolt posted a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds and junior Jason Genova scored 24 points to lead Lewis to a 70-55 win over St. Francis, Saturday night in a non-conference game.
Bolt posted double-double numbers by halftime, totaling 13 points and 10 boards at the break, but the Flyers headed to intermission up by just two at 25-23.
The game remained nip-and-tuck into the second half with St. Francis tying the score twice and taking the lead by one at 12:58. But Lewis took over from there. A layup from senior Matt Marino followed by turnover and a jumper by senior Dustin Warfield ignited Lewis to a 15-6 Lewis run.
A jumper by Bolt at 7:01 gave Lewis its first double-digit lead of the game, and the Flyers never looked back from there. Lewis led by as many as 17 before securing the 15-point win.
Genova scored 15 of his 24 in the second half. Bolt went 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Warfield scored 12 points. Junior Ryan Sharp had six points and three rebounds.
The Flyers shot 47.1 percent from the floor, compared to 38.6 percent by the Saints. Lewis held a 39-31 edge on the glass and committed three fewer turnovers than the Saints. Lewis also made 17-of-22 from the foul line while limiting the Saints to 7-of-12 from the stripe.
The Flyers return to action on Nov. 29, opening the conference schedule at Drury.
