Flyers Complete Season Sweep Of Saint Joseph's

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Darcee Schmidt inched closer to a major milestone on Thursday night, leading Lewis with 15 points and nine rebounds in a 68-59 win over Saint Joseph's in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Schmidt shot 7-of-11 from the floor with one 3-pointer, and she had four steals and two assists. She now has 1,830 points for her career, 24 away from the Lewis career scoring record that has stood since 1991.

Kelly Dianis added 13 points for Lewis, hitting 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Mary Moskal scored 12 points, pulled down six rebounds and had four steals. Jennifer Green tallied nine points. Brittney Diener dished out a game-best eight assists, and Erin Cox had four of Lewis' six blocks.

Lewis led by just two points with 5:02 to play in the first half but closed out the half with a 10-2 run. The Flyers expanded their lead to as many as 24 points in the second half before settling for the nine-point win.

Saint Joseph's Alison Hughes led all players with 21 points. She also had eight rebounds.

The Flyers (21-3, 14-2) are now three victories away from setting a Lewis record for wins in a season. Saint Joseph's fell to 4-19 (1-14).

The Flyers face Indianapolis on Saturday at 2:30 pm.
