Flyers Fall To No. 12 Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Jared Dayton and Drew Pickering each reached double digits in kills, but the Lewis Flyers fell to No. 12 Hawaii 30-18, 30-26, 30-23 Friday night before 1,675 fans at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Flyers (14-8) had a two-match win streak snapped, losing for just third time this month.

Dayton recorded a team-best 11 kills and six digs, while Pickering collected 10 kills, three digs and one ace. Alex Vigansky added six kills, one solo and one assisted block. Billy Sahagian had six assisted blocks and two aces.

Matt Vanzant led Hawaii with 11 kills, while Lauri Hakala had 10. Eric Kalima posted a match high with seven digs. Hawaii recorded a season-best nine aces.

Hawaii hit .261 (43-19-92) for the match, while the Flyers were held to a .128 (32-21-86) hitting effort. Blocks were even at 10.5 per team.

The Flyers play Hawaii again on Saturday night.
