Flyers Downed By No. 7 Penn State

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Jared Dayton hit .406 and led Lewis with 17 kills, but Matt Anderson dropped a match-best 27 kills to lead No. 7 Penn State to a 31-29, 30-18, 30-26 win over the Flyers, Friday night in non-conference action at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers finished the regular season 17-13, while Penn State improved to 20-6 overall and 6-2 against teams from the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.

Dayton's night also included five digs and three blocks. Billy Sahagian hit .818 with nine kills, and Drew Pickering totaled seven kills while leading Lewis with eight digs. Jordan Vidovic and Nick Perakes each tallied four digs. Alex Vigansky and David Kelnhofer each assisted on three blocks.

Anderson hit .489 for the match and was the lone Penn State player to register double-digits in kills. Max Holt added nine kills and served three of Penn State's five aces. Ryan Walthall led all players with 12 digs.

Penn State hit .418 while holding the Flyers to a .226 effort. The Flyers held an 8 to 6.5 edge in team blocks.

Lewis' season continues on April 21 when the Flyers face Ball State in the first round of the MIVA tournament. The Flyers will be making their first postseason appearance since 2004.
