Drew Pickering registered a double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs, but the Lewis Flyers fell to IPFW 30-26, 31-29, 29-31, 30-14 Thursday night in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match.
The Flyers fell to 17-11 (5-6), while the Mastodons improved to 16-7 (7-3).
Pickering led the Flyers in digs and matched teammate Jared Dayton for the team lead in kills. Dayton also record nine digs. Alex Vigansky added 10 kills behind a .500 hitting performance, and he had four block assists.
David Kelnhofer, Billy Sahagian and Nathan Klaas each totaled five kills. Nick Perakes registered 13 kills, and Jordan Vidovic amassed 51 assists.
Five Mastodons reached double digits in kills, led by C.J. Macias with 15 successful attacks. Brock Ullrich posted a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs, and Josh Stewart had a double-double of 12 kills and 12 block assists. Matt Pliske led all players with 18 digs.
IPFW out hit the Flyers .353 to .140 and led in blocks, 19-7. Lewis served six aces to the Mastodon's four.
The Flyers return to action on Wednesday, April 11, hosting Ball State at 7 pm.
