Flyers Sweep Winona State

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis Flyers improved to 6-1 in a 30-25, 30-22, 30-22 win over the Winona State Warriors, Friday night in day two of the Flyer Festival. The win was the Flyers sixth straight sweep.

The Flyers' attack was paced by senior Sylvia Ciezak and sophomore Kim Richards. Ciezak tied her career high with 11 kills. She also recorded three blocks (1 solo, 2 assisted).

Richards helped the Flyers pull away in the second game. With the game tied at seven, three straight Richards kills allowed the Flyers to separate themselves from the Warriors. She registered nine of her 11 kills in the second game.

The momentum of the second game continued in the third, as the Flyers jumped out to a 16-3 lead to finish off the Warriors.

The Flyers had three players register double-digit digs. Sophomore Stephanie Sagat recorded 12. Freshman Lauren Seliga notched 10 digs for the second time in three matches. Freshman Ashlee Lindish recorded a match-high 14 digs. Lindish leads the team with 98 digs.

Lewis out-hit the Warriors .311 to .219. The squads were even in blocks with four.

The Warriors' Carmen Stankowski registered a kill-dig double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Lisa Dobie added 10 digs and Lauren Brown led the Warriors with 13.

The Warriors fell to 4-3 after defeating St. Francis earlier in the day.

Lewis will look to go perfect in the Flyer Festival when they face Bryant on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena.
