Flyers Sweep Knights

LOUISVILLE, Ky - In their first conference road game of the season, the Lewis Flyers swept the Bellarmine Knights (30-18, 30-27, 30-18) Friday evening.

The Flyers started the match strong, jumping out to a 7-3 lead in game one. Game three began similarly, with the Flyers taking an early 5-0 advantage and not looking back.

Unlike games one and three, game two was tight, with neither team holding larger than a two-point lead. The Flyers scored the final three points of the game after Bellarmine tied the score at 27.

Sophomore Kim Richards led the Flyers with 10 kills while hitting .556 and committing zero errors. She also notched three digs and a match high two assisted blocks.

Senior Andrea Morrone had 37 assists and two service aces. Defensively she recorded seven digs, a solo block and an assisted block.

Sophomore Stephanie Sagat had nine kills, nine digs and a service ace.

Freshman Lauren Seliga had a team high 12 digs and added six kills.

Chelsea Bibelhauser had a match high 15 kills and Katie Wetterer recorded a match high 13 digs for Bellarmine.

The Flyers out-hit Bellarmine .306 to .094.

The Flyers improved to 11-2 (3-1 GLVC) while Bellarmine dropped to 3-7 (1-2 GLVC)

Lewis plays again Saturday at Northern Kentucky.
