Every Flyer scored a point in Lewis' 80-46 victory over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Saint Joseph's on Thursday evening. The Flyers' 80 points marked a season-high.
The Flyers held only a four-point lead with 9:57 remaining in the first half, but a 21-0 run allowed the Flyers to pull away from the Lady Pumas. Lewis shot 43.5 percent from the floor and attempted 26 more shots than the Lady Pumas. Saint Joseph's finished with a 41.9 field goal percentage on 18-of-49 shooting. The Flyers controlled the pace of the game, forcing 33 Lady Pumas turnovers while committing only 13. The Flyers led by as many as 41 points in the second half before the Lady Pumas put together a 7-0 run in the final two minutes of play.
Freshman Kelly Monaco had a team high 13 points from off the bench, connecting on 3-of-8 3-pointers. Junior Mandie Morelock added 12 points and three steals. Freshman Jenny Turpel also recorded 12 points while notching four steals and three assists. Senior Jennifer Green also scored in double-digits with ten points in just ten minutes of work. Freshman Carol Kruckman tied a career high with eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore Amy Smith had six points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Stephanie Boyle had team highs with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Pumas. Michelle Kiger added 12 points. Saint Joseph's did the majority of their damage from the line, connecting on 8-of-11 free throws.
The Flyers improved to 6-3 (3-0 GLVC) while the Lady Pumas feel to 1-9 (0-3 GLVC). The Flyers host undefeated Indianapolis on Saturday at 1 p.m.
