No. 4 Matadors Top Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - No. 4 Cal State Northridge defeated Lewis 3-0 (31-29, 30-23, 30-23) on Saturday evening at Neil Carey Arena in a non-conference match.

The Flyers played Cal State Northridge close in game one but with the game tied at 29 the Matadors finished the Flyers off with kills by Vance and Loe. Game two was close till a 5-0 run turned a one-point Lewis lead into a 13-9 Matadors advantage. The Matadors pulled always with a 7-0 run in game three to finish off the Flyers.

Senior Jared Dayton notched a team-high nine kills. Junior Billy Sahagian had seven kills and seven assisted blocks. The Flyers held a dominating 14.5 to 1.0 edge in blocks, but Cal State Northridge out-hit Lewis .281 to .131. Junior Alex Vigansky notched five block assists and one solo. Sophomore Mike Iandolo had four block assists and 22 assists. Three Matadors notched double-digit kills. Vance had a match-high 16. Loe and Isaac Kneubuhl each had 11.

Lewis falls to 7-5 while Cal State Northridge improves to 10-4. Lewis hosts UC San Diego on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
