QUINCY, Ill. - Junior Drew Pickering hit .450 with a match-high ten kills and added eight digs to help the Lewis Flyers defeat Quincy 3-0 (30-23, 30-20, 30-22) in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match on Friday night.

Game two was the only time Quincy would lead, taking an 8-7 advantage. However it would be short lived as Lewis scored the next four points to take the lead back. The Hawks chipped away to get within one at 19-18, but the Flyers answered again. This time they scored 11 of the next 13 points to take the game. Sophomore Mike Iandolo showed why he leads the MIVA in aces when he notched three straight during the Flyers' final run.

Lewis scored the first four points of game three but Quincy came back to tie it at five. It wasn't close for long as Lewis followed with a 6-1 run and eventually took the game by eight points.

Junior Billy Sahagian notched eight kills and hit .583 for the match. Juniors David Kelnhofer and Alex Vigansky each had six kills. Lewis held a dominating 10-1 edge in service aces. They also out-blocked (7.5 to 6) and out-hit (.319 to .201) the Hawks.

Quincy's Peter Coley had nine kills. The Hawks fell to 9-7 (0-6 GLVC). The Flyers upped their mark to 5-4 (2-2 GLVC).

Lewis hosts St. Ambrose on Sunday at 5 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for last Tuesday but was postponed due to server weather.
