Behind 17 hits Lewis defeated the Indiana University Northwest Redhawks 24-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Brennan Field.
Senior Billy Duffy had three singles, three runs scored and two RBI. Freshman Mike Vucsko, senior Bryan Druktenis, sophomore Joe Carbone and junior Tim Bingham all had two RBI. Junior Jeffrey Ithal came off the bench to supply three hits, an RBI and a run scored.
The Flyers scored one in the first, four in the second, eight in the third, five in both the fourth and fifth and then one in the sixth. The game was called in the middle of seventh due to the Flyers' lead.
It was the first time the Flyers have scored 20 or more runs since March 5, 2001 when they defeated Adelphi University 20-5. The last time they scored 24 or more was on March 28, 1999 against Great Lakes Valley Conference member Northern Kentucky.
Sophomore Chris Williams earned his first career victory (1-1). In five innings of work Williams allowed two hits, no runs, walked three and struck out four.
The Redhawks got their only run on a homerun by Shane Wertz in the sixth.
The Flyers host conference doubleheaders with Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday and Saturday. First pitch for both doubleheaders is at noon at Brennan Field.
