The No. 9 Flyers rallied back from a two-goal second-half deficit to force overtime, but Indianapolis scored the final and most important goal to edge Lewis 3-2 on Friday evening.
The Greyhounds scored twice in the first half, the first scores allowed by senior goaltender Anthony Szymel all season. Indianapolis' first goal came at 22:53 when Jason Kreuzman tapped an Andrew Jones cross in the net. At 43:08 Micah Uemura headed a direct kick from Brian Fishback to make it 2-0.
Lewis quickly made it a game again by scoring just over two minutes into the second half. Senior Craig McIntosh scored his first goal of the season with an assist by Kipp Cartwright at 47:04. It stayed a one-score game till 73:11 when senior Cory Mastey headed a cross from junior Nestor Hernandez just inside the post to knot it up. The goal was Mastey's third of the year.
It stayed tied till Diego Lemus scored 2:30 into overtime for Indianapolis. Lemus' initial shot, off a corner from Kreuzman, was blocked by Szymel. But the rebound came right back to Lemus and he pounded it home for the goal.
Indianapolis held a slight 12-11 edge in shots. Szymel finished with five saves.
