The Flyers didn't allow a single Saint Joseph's shot on goal in a 1-0 victory over the Pumas on Sunday afternoon. The conference victory lifts the Flyers to a 4-2 overall record and 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark.
Freshman Jordyn McMahon took a corner kick from senior Courtney Kettel and put it in the back of the net at 18:47 for the only goal of the game. The score was McMahon's second of her career. Strong Lewis defense the rest of the way wouldn't require any additional offense for the victory.
The Flyers held an 8-1 advantage in shots in each half. Sara Ritter had both of the Puma's shots. The Flyers had eight shots on goal. The last time Lewis held an opponent to zero shots on goal was Sept. 1, 2007 against Northwood.
Kettel took four shots, three on goal. Sophomore Jessica Summers-Hernandez had four shots, two on goal. Lewis held a commanding 11-2 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Megan George didn't have to make a single save to record the shutout.
Saint Joseph's falls to 0-7 (0-3 GLVC).
Lewis hosts No. 9 Wisconsin-Parkside at 2:30 on Friday.
