Kansas City, Mo. - The New Year did not begin with a bang for the Lewis University men's basketball team as the Flyers shot 33.3% (20-for-60) from the field and 23.8% (5-for-21) from three-point range as Rockhurst rolled to the 74-56 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse on Friday night.
Rockhurst's Tyler Knust shot 9-for-10 from the field and finished with a game-high 23 points, including five three-pointers, while teammate Alden Smith chipped in 12 in the victory.
With the victory, Rockhurst improves to 7-4 overall and remains undefeated in GLVC play at 3-0, while the Flyers fall to 7-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference action.
Lewis senior guards Brandon Dagans (Harvey, Ill./Thornton) and teammate Mike Robinson (Chicago, Ill./Hales Franciscan/Eastern Illinois) each scored 14 points in the defeat.
Despite the 18-point loss, the Flyers claimed a season-best 17 offensive rebounds, while turning the ball over just nine times.
Lewis is back in action on Sunday afternoon, as the Flyers travel to Springfield, Missouri to square off with Drury for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
