LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 13 Lewis women's volleyball stayed perfect in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday evening with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-23 sweep at Bellarmine.

The opening set was tied at 10 until a 5-1 Lewis run gave the Flyers all the separation they would need.

The second set was all Lewis with the Flyers out-hitting the Knights .242 to .000.

Lewis held a 17-13 edge in the third set until four straight Bellarmine points tied the score. The squads traded three-point runs to knot the set at 20. It was tied at 22 when senior Stephanie Sagat (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) gave Lewis the lead with a kill. Sophomore Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence) followed with a solo block to give Lewis match point.

Sagat recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. She hit .440 with only three errors.

"She hit it everywhere," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "If they gave her space she found it."

Junior setter Rachel Ruedi (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet Seymour) totaled 34 assists with six kills, six digs and four blocks (three solos). Mitros and junior Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) each added eight kills.

"Colleen did well in a position she wasn't used to," Smith said. "In the first set she was big offensively and she was big defensively in sets two and three."

The win was Smith's 80th career head coaching victory.

Bellarmine falls to 6-6 (3-4 GLVC).

The victory improves Lewis to 17-3 (7-0 GLVC). It sets up a showdown with Northern Kentucky on Saturday. Last season the Norse ended the Flyers' season with a sweep of Lewis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Norse are 14-6 this season with a 5-1 record in the GLVC. Their only conference loss came at the hands of Bellarmine earlier this week.
