Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) led five players in double-figures with 20 points, including four three-pointers, and a career-high six assists to lift the host Flyers to their fifth-straight win with the 95-73 non-conference triumph over Trinity Christian at Neil Carey Arena on Tuesday (Dec. 29) night.

With the victory, Lewis improves to 9-2 overall, while the visiting Trolls drop to 4-10 on the campaign.

Lewis freshman David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) made the most of his first career start, as he poured in 19 points on 5-for-6 shooting, including four three-pointers. Junior guards Donald Rowe (Kansas City, Kan./Wyandotte/Independence C.C.) and Dennis Thomas (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech) added 16 and 10 points respectively off the bench, while sophomore center Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) posted 13 points on 6-for-6 shooting from the field and had a game-high seven rebounds.

The Flyers shot a blistering 59.6% (34-for-57) from the field and an equally explosive 54.5% from three-point land, as they knocked down a season-high 12 trifectas. The Flyers, led by McClellan's six helpers, had 19 assists on their 34 buckets on Tuesday night.

"We did some good things and I thought (McClellan) got his confidence back," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "We got some good play from David Bryant. I thought our two guards played really well tonight.

"I thought our (ball distribution) may have been as good as it's been all year as far as creating opportunities for each other," Trost continued. "It's good to see 19 assists and to see us sharing the ball."

Trinity Christian guard Will Bruinsma topped the Trolls with a game-high 29 points, while Jamie King and Matt Buren each chipped in 11 points in the defeat.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 2), as the Flyers travel to Highland Heights, Kentucky to square off with Northern Kentucky for a 3:15 PM tipoff.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
