Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel saw some bright moments from his squad in the Flyers' Great Lakes Valley Conference opener against Indianapolis on Friday afternoon.

Those moments, however, were few and far between as the Greyhounds earned the 7-2 win over Lewis at the Lewis University Tennis Courts.

With the victory, Indianapolis improves to 8-6 overall and 1-0 in GLVC action, while the Flyers are 0-9 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.

Lewis freshman Uno Lapimaa (Talinn, Estonia/Tallina Audentese Erakooli) claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win over Indy's J.D. Greenlee at No. 1 singles, while teammate Tonis Irdoja (Talinn, Estonia/Rocca Al Mare) earned the 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Jonathan Hack at No. 2 singles.

"I hate losing, but we are making strides and doing more things correctly, especially in our doubles play," Bridel said. "We need to play solid tennis for an entire match, not just parts of the matches."

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (March 21) morning, as the Flyers welcome Northern Kentucky for a 10 a.m. first serve at the Lewis University Tennis Courts.

A Catholic University sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields.
