Springfield, Mo. - The Lewis University men's tennis team had their hands full on Saturday afternoon, as the Flyers had to face No. 16 Drury in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

The Flyers were able to claim three victories over the Panthers, via default at No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, but Drury proved to be too much to handle as they won the rest of the matches on their way to the 6-3 triumph over Lewis.

"We were simply outmatched today," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said.

With the victory, Drury improves to 13-5 overall and 9-0 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers fall to 2-15 on the campaign and 1-6 in conference play.

Lewis returns to action on Tuesday, as they head to the road to face Elmhurst College at 3 p.m.

A Catholic University sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The mid-sized university is being honored for the fifth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. For more information please visit www.lewisu.edu.
