St. Louis, Mo. - The Lewis University men's tennis team has enjoyed one of its most memorable seasons in recent history, as the Flyers entered the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament for the first time in six seasons.

Unfortunately for the Flyers, they were rewarded with a first-round match against top-seeded and nationally-ranked Drury at Missouri-St. Louis' Dwight Davis Tennis Center, as the No. 16 Panthers rolled to the 6-3 win over the Flyers.

"We simply weren't up to the task required to beat a talented team such as Drury today," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said.

Lewis, who won all three matches by default, finishes the season with a record of 4-17.

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the fifth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
