RENSSELAER, Ind. - The No. 17 Lewis women's volleyball team stayed perfect in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-23 sweep at St. Joseph's on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Stephanie Sagat (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) led Lewis for the second straight match in kills with eight in just 12 attempts. She also added seven digs in just two games of action.
Junior Lauren Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx) added seven kills and 10 digs. Sara deBuhr (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) finished with six kills and no errors. Redshirt senior Ashlee Lindish (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) totaled 17 digs. Lewis recorded six blocks with senior Kim Richards (Evergreen Park, Ill./Mother McAuley) notching two solos.
"St. Joe's got scrappier as the game went on and we didn't let it get to us," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "The scores got closer but we responded when they stepped it up."
The Flyers improve to 11-3 (2-0 GLVC). St. Joseph's falls to 6-9 (1-1 GLVC). Lewis welcomes UW-Parkside to town on Tuesday for the Flyers' conference home opener. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
