Romeoville, Ill. - All it takes is one.

Lewis University senior Nestor Hernandez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) headed in a cross pass from sophomore Nathan Groesch (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur/Bradley) with ten minutes remaining in the first half to propel the host Flyers to the 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Southern Indiana at the Lewis Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Kipp Cartwright (Park Forest, Ill./Marian Catholic) also assisted on the play.

With the victory, Lewis improves to 4-2-1 on the season and 3-2 in GLVC action, while the Screaming Eagles drop to 2-4 on the campaign and 2-3 in conference play.

Lewis freshman goalkeeper Sebastian Kieruzal (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) stopped all four shots he faced in goal for his fourth shutout in seven contests. The Flyers peppered USI goalkeeper Keenan Johnson with 21 shots, 10 of which were on goal, in the victory.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 25), as the Flyers head to Owensboro, Ky., to face Kentucky Wesleyan for a 12 p.m. first kick.
