SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The No. 24 Flyers' 16-game unbeaten streak came to halt on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 loss at Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Drury.
The Panthers scored the first goal of the game at 10:21 when Ben Taylor knocked in a penalty kick. Drury added to their total five minutes before half when Micah Whorton scored off a corner from Taylor.
The Panthers added an unassisted goal at 54:48 by Steve Wilczewski. It stayed 3-0 the rest of the way.
"They have a good team and we got outplayed today," head coach Evan Fiffles said. "We never found any rhythm and they were a lot more physical than we were."
Senior Charlie Bucio (Chicago, Ill./Juarez) and Kipp Cartwright (Park Forest, Ill./Marian Catholic) each had a shot on goal for Lewis.
The Panthers improved to 4-0 and 1-0 in the GLVC. Lewis falls to 1-1-1 and 0-1 in conference play. Lewis travels to Missouri S&T for a road conference game on Friday.
