Men's Soccer: Truman State 1, Lewis 0 in PDF Format
Romeoville, Ill. - The nine-game winning streak of the Lewis University men's soccer team came to an end as Truman State, behind an own goal, earned the 1-0 non-conference win over the host Flyers on `Senior Day' at the Lewis Soccer Field on Sunday (Oct. 17) afternoon.
With the win, Truman State improves to 7-2 on the season, while the Flyers are now 10-4 on the campaign.
The winning goal came at the 12:07 mark, as Lewis' Arlind Kociu (Chicago, Ill./Taft) attempted to clear a rolling ball in front of the goal mouth. Kociu, however, redirected the ball past Lewis goalkeeper Sebastian Kieruzal (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) for the score.
Truman State outshot the Flyers, 20-11 and uncorked seven shots on goal to Lewis' three.
"Truman is a very good team and they certainly showed why today," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "We couldn't generate any offensive chances and it's awful hard to score when you only have three shots on frame."
Lewis returns to action on Friday evening, as the Flyers head to Kansas City, Mo., to square off with Rockhurst for a 7:30 p.m. first kick.
