AURORA, Ill. – Senior
Hannah Koeneman (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) recorded a career-high 18 kills in No. 21 Lewis women's volleyball's 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-21) loss to No. 11 Ferris State on Friday afternoon. The contest was the first of two for the Flyers on Friday at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover. The tournament features every team from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Flyers won the opening set thanks to an 8-2 run to close out the frame. Junior
Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) recorded an ace on set point. Lewis is just the third team to take a set from Ferris State this season.
Ferris State jumped out to an 18-11 advantage in the second set only to see the Flyers rally to tie it at 20. It was tied at 22 when Ferris State scored the final three points. Ferris State would then take the next two sets to win the match in four.

“In general I thought we played well however some slow starts really hurt us,” head coach
Lorelee Smith said. “Not many teams have won a set from Ferris but we missed an opportunity today to defeat the No. 1 ranked team in the region.”
Ashley Huntey led Ferris State with 19 kills while Anne Sutton added 18. Both teams recorded nine blocks and five aces.
Ferris State improves to 16-1. Lewis falls to 13-5. The Flyers host Ashland at 5:30 p.m.
