FRANKFORT, Ky. – No. 20 Lewis women's volleyball had 12 Flyers record a kill during their 25-18, 25-17, 25-13 sweep at non-conference Kentucky State on Thursday evening. Junior
Mary Carroll (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) recorded seven kills, one short of her career high, and four digs.
“The team had a goal of playing with energy the entire match and Mary did a nice job not only offensively, but also by refusing to let the energy drop,” head coach
Lorelee Smith said.
Junior
Jillian Carlberg (Urbandale, Iowa/Waukee) (Urbandale, Iowa/Waukee) had six kills in seven attempts. Freshman
Jenni Mueller (Mount Prospect, Ill./John Hersey) (Mount Prospect, Ill./John Hersey) played the second set at libero and recorded five digs.
Lewis out-hit Kentucky State .420 to .130. The Flyers were the first to 15 in each set. Lewis ran away in the third set thanks to a 12-1 run. Sophomore
Vivian Pritz (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township) (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township/Edinboro) recorded three aces in the run. She also finished with 20 assists in two sets.
Lewis improves to 16-5. Kentucky State falls to 17-14. The Flyers are at No. 12 Northern Kentucky on Friday evening.
