Mount And Mitros Fuel Comeback For No. 20 Lewis Women's Volleyball At Bellarmine, 3-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky.
– Senior Danielle Mount (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) hit .789 with 15 kills and no errors on 19 attempts to help No. 20 Lewis women's volleyball to a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22) road Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon. Mount also added seven blocks (one solo).
 
The Flyers dropped the opening set but outscored the Knights by 19 points over the next three sets.
 
Lewis trailed the second set 9-6 but went on a 12-3 run after sophomore Vivian Pritz (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township) (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township/Edinboro) was inserted as the setter. The Flyers led by just one at 13-12 but took control with a 5-0 push. Junior Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) was serving during the stretch and had an ace and a kill in the run.
 
Lewis opened the third set on a 6-1 run and the fourth on a 12-2 run.
 
Mitros finished with 12 digs, 11 kills and two aces.
 
“Danielle and Colleen were both really good,” head coach Lorelee Smith said. “They really dug deep after a five setter last night to find a spark and some energy to pull everyone else along.”
 
Junior Jen Krumwiede (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial/IPFW) finished with 11 digs and 10 kills. Senior Hannah Koeneman (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) hit .500 with 10 kills. She also had five block assists.
 
The Flyers out-hit the Knights .323 to .230 and held an 11-4 edge in blocks.
 
Bellarmine falls to 11-9 (5-8 GLVC). Lewis improves to 18-5 (10-3 GLVC). The Flyers have won 10 or more GLVC matches for six consecutive seasons.
 
Lewis hosts UW-Parkside on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Flyers dropped a five-set match at UW-Parkside earlier this season.
