QUINCY, Ill. - Fifth-seeded Lewis men's soccer suffered a 2-1 loss at fourth-seeded Quincy in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 29) evening.

Quincy's Ethan Venvertloh broke a 1-1 tie with a goal at 77:17. The goal was assisted by Carl Hodges.

"In the second half we weren't as sharp as we needed to be," head coach Evan Fiffles said. "They had more energy than us."

Like the Hawks did in their 4-1 victory during the regular season, Quincy struck in the first six minutes. Jordan Roberts scored at 5:42 on a pass from Jeff Vaninger.

Lewis knotted it up at 18:35 on sophomore Cristhian Ramirez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling)' (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling/Emerald Coast United Academy) ninth goal of the season. He took a pass from senior Aloisio Barros (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Pampulha) (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Pampulha/Marshaltown C.C.) and beat the goaltender one-on-one for the goal.

Quincy held a 19-11 edge in shots.

The Hawks improve to 11-5-2 and will play No. 1 seeded Rockhurst in the GLVC Semifinals. Lewis ends the 2011 season with a 9-8-1 record.
