Complete Game Notes

Romeoville, Ill. -    The Lewis University men's basketball team looks to improve to 3-0 on the young 2011-12 campaign, as the Flyers host Trinity International on Tuesday (Nov. 22) evening for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at Neil Carey Arena.
Tuesday's contest can be heard on WLRA (88.1 FM), with Brett Lyons and Jesse Hardacre on the call. Live stats and video streaming will be available at www.LewisFlyers.com.

ALL TIME SERIES - This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis held Ferris State without a field goal for the first 10 minutes of their regional showdown and limited them to a 26.9% (14-for-52) shooting performance from the field on their way to the 62-44 non-conference win over the visiting Bulldogs at Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Nov. 19) afternoon.

QUICK START - With a win over Trinity International, it would be the Flyers' first 3-0 start since the 2007-08 campaign.

CLOSE CALLS -  During Scott Trost's career at Lewis, the Flyers are 25-22 (.532) in games decided by five points or less, which accounts for 31.5% of the 149 games he has coached in.

DOUBLE-FIGURES - In just two games, Lewis has had five different players score in double-figures.

LESS IS MORE - Since the 2009-10 campaign, Lewis is 12-3 (.800) when taking less than 50 shots-per-game. Since Trost's arrival in 2006, Lewis is 18-10 (.643) when they take less than 50 shots.

1,000-POINT CLUB - Senior guard Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) needs 56 more points to reach 1,000 points for his career.

NOT MY BROTHER - Lewis senior forward Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) and freshman guard Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) are not related.

PLAYING OUT OF POSITION? - Lewis senior center Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) - who stands 6-feet-10 inches tall - currently is averaging a team-best 2.5 assists-per-game.

DEFENSIVE PRESSURE - The 44 points surrendered to Ferris State was the fewest allowed by a Flyer squad since a 68-39 win over St. Francis (Ill.) on November 28, 2009. Ferris State's 26.9% (14-for-52) field goal percentage was the lowest shooting performance by an opponent since an 89-44 win over St. Francis (Ill.) on November 29, 2008 when the Saints went 13-for-50 (26.0%).

DEFENSIVE PRESSURE (PART DEUX) - Lewis leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference (as of Nov. 20) in field goal percentage defense, as opponents are only hitting 29.9% (32-for-107) of their shots.

GOOD GENES - Senior forward Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) chose a different athletic path than his father Tom. Tom Toth played five years in the National Football League, including starting 12 games at right guard for Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins in 1987.

HONORING HIS BROTHER - Junior guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.

BENCH MOB - Lewis' bench, led by Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (13.5 ppg.) is averaging 36.0 points-per-game in the Flyers' first two contests.

POUNDING THE GLASS - Strus (8.0 rpg.), Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (7.0 rpg.) and senior Lonnie Lawrence (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) (5.5 rpg.) have helped the Flyers average 45.0 rebounds-per-game and a league-best rebounding margin (as of Nov. 20) of +16.

DEEP ROTATION - With a deep roster, Trost has been able to use 32 different player combinations in just two games. Lewis has nine players who have averaged at least 12.5 minutes-per-game this season.
