Complete Game Notes

Lewis women's basketball (1-2) travels to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Oahu Classic on Nov. 24 and 25. The Flyers play BYU-Hawaii (0-0) on the Thursday at 1 p.m. HT/5 p.m. CT. Lewis then comes back and plays No. 19 Northeastern State (Okla.) (2-0) on Friday at 5 p.m. HT/9 p.m. CT.

A FIRST FOR EVERYTHING - Lewis has never played BYU-Hawaii or Northeastern State.

RAMBLIN' FLYERS - The Flyers are no strangers to hitting the road for a few non-conference contests. In 2009-10 the Flyers traveled to the Los Angeles, Calif. area for games against Concordia (Calif.) and California Baptist. In 2008-09 the Flyers played Colorado State-Pueblo and Metro State in Denver, Colo.

AT THE LINE - Lewis finished 26-of-37 from the free throw line against Upper Iowa on Friday, Nov. 18. The 26 made free throws match Lewis' high last season of 26 at Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 4, 2010. The Flyers' 37 free throw attempts were the most since Lewis took 39 against St. Francis on Nov. 22, 2008.

THE LINE COMBINED - Upper Iowa and Lewis combined for 79 free throw attempts on Friday. The Peacocks finished 29-of-42 from the line. Friday was the most combined free throw attempts in a game since Lewis' 82-80 victory over St. Joseph's on Feb. 8, 2003. Lewis was only 19-of-29 from the line while St. Joseph's made 40-of-51 free throws. Three Flyers fouled out in the game. One Flyer who did not foul out was current assistant coach Tracy Summers. She finished with eight points and four assists in the contest. Despite the close two-point final score the Flyers never trailed in the game.

COLD HEARTED REINHART - Freshman Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) scored seven of her 18 points in the second overtime of Lewis' 90-86 victory over Upper Iowa on Friday. She made a pair of free throws with 55 seconds remaining to knot the game at 86. She also grabbed two defensive rebounds in the final 41 seconds to help put the game away. In addition to her 18 points she grabbed 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double in her first career-start. She played a game-high 42 minutes and added three steals and had an assist while recording only one turnover.

NOT THE ONLY ONE - Women's basketball will not be the only team traveling to Hawaii this school year. The Lewis men's volleyball team is playing in Hawaii's Outrigger Invitational Jan. 12-14. The Flyers will play UCLA, Hawaii and Springfield College.

CAREER DAY FOR GRAY(er) - Sophomore Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) scored a career-best 18 points against Upper Iowa on Friday. She made her first eight shots.

DOUBLE-DARE - Lewis' double overtime contest on Friday against Upper Iowa was Lewis' first double overtime game since defeating Bellarmine 86-78 on Jan. 22, 2004.

COUNTING DOWN TO HISTORY - Lewis' contest against Northeastern State will be the 1000th game in Lewis women's basketball history.

ONE FOR 100 - The Flyers' next victory will be head coach Lisa Carlsen's 100th career win.

BLOCK PARTY - The 11 blocks Lewis recorded against McKendree on Nov. 14 were the most for a Lewis team during the Lisa Carlsen era. The 11 blocks also marked the most by a GLVC team in a game since Northern Kentucky recorded 16 against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 14, 2008.

LOOKING BACK - Lewis used a thrilling postseason run last year to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Flyers upset four higher seeds to win the championship. First up was an overtime victory at Missouri S&T in which the Flyers rallied from a nine-point deficit with less than three minutes remaining in the game. The Flyers never held a lead until the overtime session. Lewis then defeated Drury, UW-Parkside and Indianapolis to win the title, three teams the Flyers lost to during the regular season. The Flyers earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional, losing to eventual National Runner-Up Michigan Tech in the opening round.
