Lewis women's basketball (2-3) opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena against the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (5-1).

FOR OPENERS - Lewis has won seven consecutive GLVC openers. The Flyers' last loss in a GLVC opener came Nov. 29, 2003 by a 55-51 score at UW-Parkside. The streak includes a 69-61 victory over Southern Indiana on Dec. 4, 2008 to open the 2008-09 GLVC slate. Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen is 4-0 in GLVC openers.

TAKING IT AWAY - The Flyers recorded 20 steals against BYU-Hawaii on Nov. 24th. It was the first time Lewis earned 20 steals in a game since recording 20 at Kentucky Wesleyan on Jan. 20, 2005.

DISHIN' - Lewis recorded 22 assists in the win over BYU-Hawaii, the total matches last year's high when the Flyers earned 22 assists against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 10, 2011.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Sophomore Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) is a combined 5-for-10 from beyond the arc in Lewis' last four games.

HELPING OUT - Junior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) is leading the Flyers with 3.0 assists per game during the young season. That average is up from the 1.75 she averaged over her first two seasons.

HAS A RING TO IT - The 2010-11 GLVC Championship team will receive their championships rings during a ceremony on Saturday at halftime of the men's basketball game against Kentucky Wesleyan.

DOUBLE DIGITS FOR ITSCNHER - Freshman Kristen Itschner hit double-digit points for the first time in her career on Thursday against BYU-Hawaii. Itchner recorded 12 points thanks to 6-of-7 shooting. She also recorded five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

VALUE THE BALL - Freshman point guard Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) has had one or fewer turnovers in four of Lewis' five games this season.

THE SECOND TIME AROUND - Lewis has averaged 17.6 second chance points through their first five games of the season. Last year the Flyers averaged 10.5 second chance points per game.

1000 GAMES - Lewis' contest against Northeastern State was the 1000th game in Lewis women's basketball history.

100 FOR CARLSEN - The Flyers' victory over BYU-Hawaii was head coach Lisa Carlsen's 100th of her career.

AT THE LINE - Lewis finished 26-of-37 from the free throw line against Upper Iowa on Friday, Nov. 18. The 26 made free throws match Lewis' high last season of 26 at Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 4, 2010. The Flyers' 37 free throw attempts were the most since Lewis took 39 against St. Francis on Nov. 22, 2008.

THE LINE COMBINED - Upper Iowa and Lewis combined for 79 free throw attempts on Friday. The Peacocks finished 29-of-42 from the line. Friday was the most combined free throw attempts in a game since Lewis' 82-80 victory over St. Joseph's on Feb. 8, 2003. Lewis was only 19-of-29 from the line while St. Joseph's made 40-of-51 free throws. Three Flyers fouled out in the game. One Flyer who did not foul out was current assistant coach Tracy Summers. She finished with eight points and four assists in the contest. Despite the close two-point final score the Flyers never trailed in the game.

COLD HEARTED REINHART - Freshman Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) scored seven of her 18 points in the second overtime of Lewis' 90-86 victory over Upper Iowa on Friday. She made a pair of free throws with 55 seconds remaining to knot the game at 86. She also grabbed two defensive rebounds in the final 41 seconds to help put the game away. In addition to her 18 points she grabbed 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double in her first career-start. She played a game-high 42 minutes and added three steals and had an assist while recording only one turnover.

MORE ON REINHART - Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) shot above .500 from the floor in her first four career games before finishing 2-of-8 against Northeastern State on Friday. For the season Reinhart is shooting .512 (22-of-43).

DOUBLE-DARE - Lewis' double overtime contest against Upper Iowa was their first double overtime game since defeating Bellarmine 86-78 on Jan. 22, 2004.
