ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis women's swimming team won 11 events en route to a 136-41 non-conference victory over visiting IIT on Friday evening at the Lewis Pool.
The Flyers opened up the evening with a win in the 200 medley relay by
Aubrey Miller (Gilbertsville, Pa., Boyertown Area),
Kristen Silvey (Columbia, Mo., Rock Bridge),
Katie Hallenbeck (Plano, Ill., Plano) and
Cindy Jezuit (Wheaton, Ill., Wheaton North) in 1:54.59.
Junior
Orla Power (Greenville, N.C., J.H. Rose) won the 1000 free in 11:01.57 and 500 free with a time of 5:27.52 while
Angela Cusack (Willow Springs, Ill., Lyons Township) claimed first place in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:02.98.
Jezuit also won the 50 free (25.08) and the100 free (55.33) while Hallenbeck was victorious in the 200 IM (2:15.70) and 100 butterfly (1:00.66).
Silvey earned a time of 1:11.63 and first place in the 100 breaststroke and Cusack,
Ashley Kryger (Glen Ellyn, Ill., Glenbard South),
Emily Heine (Madison, Miss., Madison Central) and
Maddie Mikrut (Plainfield, Ill., Plainfield Central) took home the 200 free relay title in 1:44.69.
"We had a lot of season best times tonight which is great to see," head coach
Roger Karns said. "I'm pleased with the progress of the times because it bodes well for the rest of the season. However we're still too slow in our turns and finishes."
Lewis returns to action on December 2nd at the Carthage College Swimming Classic.
