The Lewis University men's basketball team, led by freshman guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield), left no doubt on Saturday (Dec. 10) night, as they scored 27 of the game's first 32 points on their way to the 79-53 non-conference win over Olivet Nazarene at Neil Carey Arena.

Jackson posted a season-high 23 points, including five rebounds and four assists in the win. He along with fellow freshman Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) each scored eight points during that run to begin the contest.

Lewis finished with 10 points, while seniors Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively. Flyer senior center Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) tied a team-season high with 11 rebounds to go along with his five points, four steals and three blocks.

"We got out of the gates pretty well and I thought we did a lot of good things offensively in the first half," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "We can get better and as soon as we trust each other more on both ends of the court, this team has got a chance to be really good."

With the win, Lewis improves to 6-2 on the season, while the visiting Tigers are now 6-5 on the campaign.

Saturday's victory marks the fifth time this season that Lewis has held their opponents to under 60 points and to under 37.0% shooting. Olivet Nazarene was held to a 30.0% (18-for-60) shooting performance on the evening, led by nine points from senior guard Antonio Marshall.

Lewis is off for the next eight days, before they welcome the Trolls of Trinity Christian for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Monday, December 19th.
