ROMEOVILLE, Ill.
- Lewis women's basketball dropped a non-conference contest to St. Francis (Ill.) 69-60 Thursday night (Dec. 8) at Neil Carey Arena.

Lewis grabbed a quick 14-6 lead before the Fighting Saints came back to take the contest. The Fighting Saints erased the deficit thanks to a 13-5 run.

The Saints held a 26-13 advantage on the glass in the first half, including 11 on the offensive end. The Flyers trailed the Saints 27-26 after the first 20 minutes.

It was a single-digit game for most of the second half until a late 7-1 Fighting Saints run sealed the Flyers' fate.

Madeline Kish (Oak Forest, Ill./Sandburg) (Oak Forest, Ill./Eastern Ill.) set career-highs in points (19) and 3-pointers after making 5-of-9 from long range. She also posted a game-high four steals.

The Fighting Saints held a 22-1 advantage in bench points.

Lewis finished 20-of-58 from the floor (34.5 percent). The Fighting Saints were 23-of-54 (42.6 percent).

Junior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) matched a career-high with 23 points.

“St. Francis outworked us on our home court for 40 minutes tonight,” head coach Lisa Carlsen said. “I don't think we did a consistent job on either end of the glass.”

The Saints were led by Julie Schiffler's 16 points. St. Francis improves to 8-2. Lewis falls to 3-5.

Thursday was the final time the Flyers took to the court at Neil Carey Arena in 2011. Lewis hits the road for four games and will take on No. 22 Central Missouri on Dec. 16.
