Lewis Men's Basketball Welcomes Olivet Nazarene On Saturday

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena.

The Lewis University men's basketball team winds down the first semester on Saturday (Dec. 10) evening, as the Flyers welcome Olivet Nazarene to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
   The game will be broadcast on WJOL (1340 AM) and on www.LewisFlyers.com with Mark Vasko providing the play-by-play analysis. The game will also be broadcast on WLRA (88.1 FM). Live stats, audio and video streaming can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com.

ALL TIME SERIES - Lewis holds a 9-3 advantage over Olivet Nazarene in their all-time series.

LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis held Olivet Nazarene to just three field goals over the final 11 minutes and finished the game with a 24-9 run, as the visiting Flyers earned the 68-46 non-conference victory over the Tigers at McHie Arena on December 18th. Lewis junior forward Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) came off the bench to score a game-high 14 points.

LAST TIME OUT - Senior guard Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) posted a career-high 27 points, on 9-for-10 shooting, including six trifectas to lead Lewis to the 80-66 win over St. Francis (Ill.) on Wednesday (Dec. 7) night.

1,000-POINT CLUB - With his 19-point performance against Kentucky Wesleyan on December 3rd, McClellan eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career. He enters Saturday's contest with Olivet Nazarene with 1,029 points.

LESS IS MORE - Since the 2009-10 campaign, Lewis is 12-4 (.750) when taking less than 50 shots-per-game. Since Scott Trost's arrival in 2006, Lewis is 18-11 (.621) when they take less than 50 shots.

DOUBLE-DIGIT QUARTET - Wednesday's game against St. Francis (Ill.) marked the third time this season where the Flyers had four starters finish with at least 10 points. Lewis accomplished that same feat five times for the entire 2010-11 campaign.

CLOSE CALLS - During Trost's career at Lewis, the Flyers are 25-24 (.510) in games decided by five points or less, which accounts for 32.0% of the 153 games he has coached in.

ACTION JACKSON - Lewis freshman guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) is scoring a team-best 7.4 points-per-game in the second-half for the Flyers.

POUNDING THE GLASS - Lewis is 14-3 (.824) when Toth leads the team in rebounding during his career.

HONORING HIS BROTHER - Junior guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.  

FRESH FROSH - Jackson and classmate Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) are the first pair of freshmen that Trost has ever started in his 15 years as a head coach.

WELCOME ROOKIE - Jackson is currently averaging 11.4 points-per-game, which is the most by a Flyer freshman since Austin Real (Aurora, Ill./Aurora West) averaged 11.7 points-per-game in 2000-01.  

NOT MY BROTHER - Senior forward Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) and freshman guard Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) are not related.

NEED A BREATHER? - Lewis has 10 different players that are averaging at least 9.8 minutes-per--game.

CAN WE SHOOT IT? YES WE CAN - Lewis is shooting 41.5% from three-point range this season, while their opponents are connecting on just 39.0% of their total field goal attempts.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Lewis connected on 7-of-14 of their three-point attempts in the 80-66 win over St. Francis (Ill.) on Wednesday (Dec. 7) night. The Flyers are 21-7 (.750) since 2006-07 when they knock down at least 50.0% of their three-point attempts (min. 5 made).
