ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Senior Brian Muesenfechter (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers) hit .450 with 12 kills on Saturday night however the 14th ranked Lewis men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-14) decision to 2nd ranked BYU at Neil Carey Arena.

BYU didn't trail in the opening set until the Flyers grabbed a 22-21 lead with three straight points. Back-to-back BYU points gave the Cougars the lead back and the upper hand. A Muesenfechter kill that found the line turned away one BYU set point but an ace by Jeff Robinson for point 26 gave BYU the set on their second set point.

The second stanza was tied at six, seven, eight and nine until four straight BYU tallies forced Lewis to ask for time. The timeout spurred a 5-1 run for Lewis to knot it up at 14. However BYU took back control of the frame by scoring five of the next six points.

Lewis struggled to side out in the third set, allowing BYU to score consecutive points on seven occasions. BYU didn't commit a single attack error in the frame.

"I was disappointed in our play tonight," head coach Dan Friend said. "I thought Moose did a nice job stepping up and making something happen as a senior."

Sophomore Ian Karbiener (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) finished with 10 kills.

BYU improves to 10-3. Lewis falls to 8-3. The Flyers return to conference play on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match at Quincy.
