Indianapolis, Ind. – Despite a pair of wins from freshmen Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary, Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium)and Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary, Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium), the Lewis University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at the hands of the University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup on Friday (Apr. 1) afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center.
With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 7-4 (1-1 GLVC) while the Flyers drop to 4-4 (1-1 GLVC).
Kranczicki and Lanstiak teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Maggie Ashby and Alena Perez-Majul, 8-3.
Kranczicki later claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Perez-Majul and Lanstiak earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Claire Liles.
“Our doubles play was a little shaky today and we just need to play together,” Lewis University head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said. “The Zsofia's continue to play well but it is time for the others to rise to the occasion.
“These matches are simply a test of will and mental toughness.”
The Flyers are back in action on Saturday (Apr. 2) as they host Missouri-St. Louis for a non-conference match at 12 PM at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
