Louisville, Ky. - The Lewis University men's basketball team needed a near-perfect contest to upset No. 2 ranked Bellarmine, but the Flyers were done in by a season-high 21 turnovers, as the host Knights claimed the 84-56 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Knights Hall on Thursday (Jan. 19) evening.
Bellarmine capitalized on the Flyer miscues, scoring 32 points off the turnovers.
"Bellarmine made plays tonight and they beat us in every facet of the game," Lewis head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost said. "You have to give them credit, because they're a darn good team.
"We just have to put this game behind us and get ready for the next one."

Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) led the Flyers with 12 points on the evening, including a perfect 3-for-3 outing from three-point range.
With the win, Bellarmine improves to 15-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play while the visiting Flyers are now 11-5 on the season and 3-5 in GLVC action.
Four different Bellarmine players scored in double-figures, led by a game-high 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists from senior guard Chris Dowe. Knights guard Braydon Hobbs went 5-for-6 from long range to finish with 17 points, while backcourt mate Jeremy Kendle added 16 points in the victory. BU sophomore guard Keisten Jones collected 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field.
As a team, Bellarmine shot 59.2% (29-for-49) from the field and converted 59.1% (13-for-22) of their three-point field goal attempts.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 21), as they head to Highland Heights, Ky., for a 5 p.m. (EST) tip-off against No. 9 Northern Kentucky.
