Rensselaer, Ind. - The Lewis University men's basketball team seemed to be in range as soon as they got off the bus, as the Flyers tied a season-high with 13 three-pointers, including 11 in the first-half, on their way to the 86-64 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Saint Joseph's at Scharf Fieldhouse on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon.
In the first half, Lewis converted 73.3% (11-for-15) of their three-point attempts. Senior forward

Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) was a perfect 3-for-3 from long range in the opening stanza. Five different Flyer players knocked down at least one three-pointer on the afternoon.
Toth finished with a game and season-high 24 points, and tied a team-season high with six trifectas. McClellan added 17 points, including four daggers from beyond the arc. McClellan also tied a career-high with seven assists in the victory.

"That's as close to a full 40 minutes that we've played all year," Lewis head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost said. "We shot the ball really well today and I thought we did some good things out there both offensively and defensively."
With the win, Lewis improves to 13-6 overall and 5-6 in GLVC play, while the host Pumas are now 7-12 on the campaign and 2-9 in conference action.
For the game, Lewis shot 57.4.% (27-for-47) from the field, and a season-high 65.0% (13-for-20) from three-point range. They took advantage of their charity tosses, as they knocked down 95.0% (19-for-20) of their free throw attempts.
Saint Joseph's junior guard Dayvon Sloan topped the Pumas with 16 points, while backcourt mate Damon Ellison, Jr. had 10 points in the loss.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 2), as they welcome No. 9 Northern Kentucky to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:45 p.m. tip-off.
