ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Junior Angela Cusack (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) took home victories in the 50 freestyle (25.34) and the 100 freestyle (56.00) for the Lewis women's swim team against Carthage on Saturday afternoon at the Lewis Pool. Carthage won the dual meet 127-78.

Freshman Cindy Jezuit (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) was right behind Cusack in both the 50 and 100 for second place finishes. Jezuit finished the 50 in 25.54 and the 100 in the 56.31. Senior Ashley Kryger (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) also had a pair of second place finishes. She touched the wall in 2:01.14 in the 200 freestyle and 5:25.90 in the 500 freestyle.

Junior Catie Reese (Trafalgar, Ind./Indian Creek) (Trafalgar, Ind./Indian Creek) won the 100 backstroke by just .22 of a second.

“Catie really fought for every stroke to earn that touch out victory,” head coach Roger Karns said. “She kinda exemplified what did today by fighting to the finish. In a sport decided by hundredths of seconds you have to drive all the way to the wall.”

The Flyers are back in action on Jan. 21 at conference-foe Wayne State. Start time for the meet is 11 a.m. ET.
