Lewis Women's Volleyball Hosts No. 10 Indianapolis on Lakeshore TV Friday

The Flyers will look to upset No. 10 Indianapolis at Neil Carey Arena.

Match Notes

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis Univeristy women's volleyball team is hosting No. 10 Indianapolis on Friday (Nov. 2) at 7 PM at Neil Carey Arena. The match will be broadcast on Lakeshore PTV. Scott Slocum and Bill Scheibe are the call and play-by-play duties.

The Flyers enter the match with a 19-9 season record and 11-3 against Great Lakes Valley Conference teams. The Greyhounds come in at 25-3, 14-0 in the GLVC.

STREAKIN'- The Flyers are on a 10 match win streak while playing at Neil Carey Arena in 2012. The Flyers longest home streak is 41 matches, stretching from 2007-09.

GO-GO COLLEEN! - Senior hitter Colleen Mitros (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) is leading the Flyers with 284 kills for 2.90 kills per set overall. Against GLVC teams, Mitro leads Lewis with 130 total kills against for 2.83 kills per set heading into the weekend.

ALL-TIME MITROS - Mitros is now tied for 5th entering tonight's match with 126 matches played. She is also 10th all-time with 2718 total attacks. 


FLYIN' UP - Lewis has three players in the top-5 in four different categories against GLVC opponents. 
-Perschnick: 2nd in hit percentage (40 sets, 126 kills, 21 errors, 257 total attack, .409%); 9th in kills (40 sets, 12 kills, 3.15 kills per set)
-Barea: 4th in assists (48 sets, 525 total assists, 10.94 assists/set)
-Choi: 1st in digs (26 sets, 171 digs, 6.58 digs per set)


PLAYING FOR PREEMIES - The Lewis and Saint Joseph's squads are selling t-shirts for $10 until their Nov. 3 match-up at Neil Carey with the money going to the NICU at Univ. of Chicago Hospital. Fans who wear their shirt on Nov. 3, will get a free bag of popcorn.

GLVC NOTABLES
Set Century Mark - Six GLVC volleyball teams have played 100+ sets this season.  Drury and McKendree tie with 105 apiece, followed by Kentucky Wesleyan (103), and Lewis (102), while Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's have played 100 sets each. 

GLVC Among National Stat Leaders - GLVC volleyball teams and student-athletes can be found ranked among the nation's top 25 in select statistical categories, which were released by the NCAA on Monday (Oct. 29). On the team side, Indianapolis ranks No. 6 (13.71) in assists per set, No. 7 (14.55) in kills per set, No. 11 in Match W-L percentage (0.889), and No. 15 (0.258) in hitting percentage. Rockhurst ranks No. 7 (2.55) in blocks per set, and Missouri S&T is No. 7 (18.79), while Lewis is No. 24 (17.63) in digs per set.

2012 GLVC Volleyball Championship - The 2012 GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament will be hosted by the Indiana South Sports Academy (ISSA), Nov. 16-18, marking the first time in conference history the postseason event will be held on a neutral site. Located on the near Southside of Indianapolis, Ind., ISSA will welcome the top eight teams, to vie for the title in the 31st annual event.
